Sunday Gravel Ride | October 31st, 11:00 am

RIDE CANCELLED. We’ll try again next week and hope for better conditions.

It’s going to be a cold, wet, mucky and windy all Hallows Eve, Hallowe’en or Halloween (your spelling preference) fall colour ride. Weather is predicted to be chilly, windy and wet – around 8 degrees at the start. Brrr…. costumes are mandatory (ok, maybe not)!

Check back here for weather cancellation posted no later than 8:00 AM.

Lot’s of long gravel roads in this one. Unfortunately there is no cafe or convenience store near halfway on this route. Bring food, enough drink and dress warmly – and no whining! Lol!!

The plan is to have two pace groups: recreational and intermediate. Both use the same route at different paces. However, these groups may be combined depending on turnout. Check the schedule for complete details.

Recreational Gravel: 21-24 km/h average
Intermediate Gravel: 24-26 km/h average

KWCX Sunday October 24th

Lady’s and Gentlemen,

We have decided not to run a gravel ride on Sunday October 24th and instead encourage our SRCC gravel enthusiasts to join in the Cyclocross fun in Kitchener with our good friends and hosts Waterloo Cycling Club at the KWCX held at Bingeman Park.

All you need is a OCA citizen’s permit (most of you will have that when signing up with SRCC) and…

Any bicycle can be used in any race with the exception of the M1/E1/E2 race where a UCI legal CX bicycle is required. The Single speed race requires a single speed bike. Full details in Event Rules.

This is an Ontario Cup, please remember to bring your series numbers (if you have been issued them). If you haven’t already received your numbers this year they will be provided to you at the race. If you lose your numbers you will have to pay a fee of $20 to obtain new series numbers.

Register here.

Entry is $50

There is no day of registration this year as per COVID regulations.

More info here.

Hope to see you there!

Sunday Gravel Ride – Oct. 17, 11:00am

Weather is looking cool, and possibly rainy for this weekend. The ride start will officially be at 11:00am, to account for some warmer weather and hopefully to miss any rain that comes overnight. Dress appropriately and the worst that will happen is that you’ll have a cool story about an awesome adventure.

There will be a halfway stop at the Play-A-Latte Cafe in Kitchener (around kilometer 45). Be sure to bring cash or card and mask for that.

There are two groups: recreational and intermediate. Both use the same route at different paces. However, these groups may be combined depending on turnout. Check the schedule for complete details.

Recreational Gravel: 21-24 km/h average
Intermediate Gravel: 24-26 km/h average

The route: We’re going to go on an urban-ish adventure along some trails that we’ve hit before, and some brand new stuff! Should be a great time!

Sunday Gravel Ride | October 10th, 9:00 am

Weather prediction is warm. Should be around 17 degrees at 9 am. This ride is a wee bit shorter to allow for the long weekend commitments people need to get back for. We should easily be back by noon.

There will be a halfway stop at the Lost & Found Cafe in Elora. Be sure to bring cash or card and mask for that.

There are two groups: recreational and intermediate. Both use the same route at different paces. However, these groups may be combined depending on turnout. Check the schedule for complete details.

Sunday Gravel Ride | Oct 3 @ 9:00am

RIDE CANCELLED: Yeah, big surprise. Hopefully, everyone got out yesterday when the weather was glorious.

As I post this, the weather for this Sunday is looking grim, so this is not likely going to happen. Just in case, here’s this weekend’s combined gravel ride.

We’re supposed to be starting at 11AM this time of year because its typically cold in the morning. Since the overnight temperature isn’t going below 17C, we’ll do this ride at 9AM.

Starting at the Guelph Youth Music Centre, we’ll head out on the Guelph-Goderich trail for a bit before we peel off and head NE towards Bellwood. Mandatory butter-tart stop in Bellwood, then we’ll make our way back to Guelph.

We’ll be doing a combined recreational/intermediate group and will ride at whatever pace the group is comfortable with.

If by some miracle, the weather forecast changes from the expected rain, we’ll ride at 9AM. Either way, check back here for an official go/no-go by 8AM Sunday morning.
