You are invited to kick off the 2019 SRCC Season this coming Saturday March 23rd with your fellow club members at 5 Queen Street! Catch up on the happenings of winter subterranean training and look forward to above ground real-world riding. Bring your significant otter and let them meet the nice & sweaty people you spend some of your evenings and Sunday mornings with (while they are still reasonably presentable). BYOB and a snack to share for the food table. Hope to see you then. Start is 7PM. Hopefully the ice will be off the driveway!
This is a new Club ride designed for those of us who don’t want to slow down the riders on the regular Sunday Medium ride. It is “women-centric”, but a ‘few good men’ are welcome too! For this week, Meg will be leading a 75 km route with a planned average of 27-28 kph. Unfortunately, there won’t be anywhere to buy a snack on this route, so please plan to carry something with you and we’ll have a wee break at the Limehouse Community Centre.
8:00 AM Weather Call: Ride is on!
There is definitely some rain coming today, it’s just a bit difficult to say exactly when. EC says 40% chance with the Likelihood of Precipitation being ‘Low’.
Medium pace (28-30 kph)
The Mid distance 78 km group stops in Georgetown for coffee and a snack at the Silvercreek Cafe. You’ll be home in time for lunch on this ride.
The Longer distance 116 km group sets out with the medium group and then carries on through Glen Williams, Terra Cotta, Inglewood, Belfountain and Erin before getting back to Guelph. Great cafe stop opportunities on this ride!
Don’t forget to bring a bit of cash!
The weather is looking a bit ‘so, so’ as of Friday’s posting. Weather updates will be made right up to Sunday at 8 AM for the final call. Hope you can join us.
6:00 PM Start! Club Social at the Wooly 9:00 PM.
Late season fun!
Two rides, two routes, one small hilly difference – load accordingly! A wee shorter distance than last week with some new pavement on Victoria. EC says no chance of rain. Temperatures promise to be perfect. Only route difference is the ‘A’ group will continue south past Leslie and stuff a Col in between their Burgs – chamois butter may be required! Sunset is at 8:01 PM. Bring lights as usual. See you soon!
Sun is out and Thunderbirds are GO! (Ride is on). Note the earlier 6:00PM departure! Same distance as last week with a half hour head start. EC says no chance of rain. Temps dropping to 16 by rides end. Sunset is at 8:14 PM. Bring lights as usual. See you soon!
Weather Update 4:58 PM: Looks like we’re good to go at this point. See you soon.
Here’s a nice rolling route to the south and west of Guelph with some new pavement in a few places. Quite a few turns to remember so load this one into that thing that’s been cluttering up your bars for years – Garmin… not just for numbers anymore! You’ll figure it out, children do it everyday. The official finish will be at Hamilton Corners at the Volvo Garage at Gordon and Arkell Rds. A few will want to head back to the library on Arkell and Victoria Rds. and others can find there way home from Gordon St. Sunset 8:43, bring lights just in case. Check back here for final rain cancellation to be posted no later than 5:00 PM.
