Tuesday All-Members Ride, August 10th, 6:00pm

New start time alert! 6:00pm! Days are getting shorter and that means rides are shifting to 6:00pm for the rest of the year.

Otherwise you’re in for the same TAM ride you’ve come to enjoy, the night of the week that all members can find a speed group they enjoy riding with! The route remains the same for several weeks in a row, giving an opportunity for riders to see how they progress in fitness week-over-week. Please note: some groups may be combined based on sign-up numbers and available ride leaders.

As with all of our rides, this ride is open to SRCC members only. If you have not signed up to be a club member, you can do so HERE.

The TAM ride will be departing from Calvary Baptist Church, 454 Arkell Rd, at 6:00pm. Please arrive a few minutes early and ensure you are in the group area that you signed up for – see the map below.

The Route: The first three groups: Hammerfest, Paceline Advanced (32-35kph), and Paceline (30-32kph) will be following this route:

The next three groups (Social Paceline Advanced, Social Paceline, and No-Drop Social Paceline) will be following a shortened version of the same:

Thursday Advanced Rides | Aug 5 @ 6:30pm

We’re going to start by going the easier way on Watson for a change before heading all the way out east to search for some chip seal free roads. The B and C groups will head back via Rockwood and Eden Mills while the A group follows a slightly more zig-zagging route to add in a climb and a few more kilometers.

Groups will ride at the following paces:

Thursday A: 35+ km/h average
Thursday B: 32-35 km/h average
Thursday C: 30-32 km/h average

Rides start in the parking lot of the East End Library at the corner of Starwood and Watson. See the map below for the meeting point for your group.

Thursday Advanced Rides – Ride – July 1st, 6:30pm

Its Thursday, which means its time for some of the faster rides in our weekly ride schedule. Its a great time to push yourself and hopefully surprise yourself!

The C group will be staying together for the entire ride, working together to maintain a speed of 30-32 km/h. The B group aims for a speedy average speed of ~32-35 km/h and may separate on larger hills, but will regroup afterwards. Finally the A’s who can go as fast as they’d like, the lower limit is expected to be around ~35km/h.

The ride leaves from the East End Library at 6:30pm. When meeting in the parking lot please remember to keep your distance and not block the library entrance. Use the following map to find your group.

NOTE: The weather is especially unpredictable at the moment. If it looks like rain in the forecast check the post before heading out, the go/no-go call will be made by 6pm latest.

GCAT (Guelph Coalition for Active Transportation) AGM

Our local active transport advocacy group is hosting their AGM February 20th and any interested members should consider attending. They do a lot of great work in our community which we benefit from as cyclists. There is a guest keynote speaker, Jason Thorne, head of Planning and Economic Development in the City of Hamilton.
